About Bird – Author/Musician

Bird first saw the light of day in Pennsylvania in 1944, but turned 10 years old in Florida. He dropped out of MIT in 1965, thinking that something was missing. Science was great, but wasn’t the full human story. He graduated from the University of South Florida with a BA in English literature in 1967 & upon returning to Boston was swept up in the anti-war, hippie movement. He started writing songs & travelled throughout the US. In 1975, he began practicing Tibetan Buddhist meditation. Bird moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1982, became a dad in ‘87 & took up cab driving full-time in ‘94. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1998. In 2007, he recorded a CD of original songs entitled ‘Now Here This‘. In 2011 Bird self-published “Extreme Times: Diary of an Eco-Buddhist“, his first work of non-fiction.
